Elkins Star is an exquisite animal with an amazingly kind and gentle disposition, outstanding movement and athletic ability, and intelligence and versatility that have allowed him to be a top horse in virtually every discipline, including becoming a top 6 Novice Reining Horse (NSRHA) at the age of 20 in his first year of reining ! Not to mention the fact that he is a beautifully classic Arabian with small, curved, tippy ears, a classic dished head and a strong but elegant compact body, and he has a pair of the kindest, most stunning eyes you've ever seen! Elkins Star consistently passes on his top quality traits, including his loving disposition and stunning head - even when bred to an Appaloosa mare! Many of his get have also become Regional and Show Champions in many disciplines.
Elkins Star's
pedigree
is also exceptional - sired by double National Champion *ELKIN++ (Aquinor
x Ellenai) who was imported from Poland and a producer of many champions
such as Elkanada+++ (winner of 25 championships as well as the Legion of
Honor, Legion of Merit and the Supreme Legion of Merit Awards), Eagle (Scottsdale
Jr. Champion Stallion), and of course Elkins Star (multiple Regional Champion
Stallion) as well as many other champion show horses and champion producing
breeding stock. *Elkin++ was a full brother to Elf, who never left Poland,
and to Top Ten Stallion and Top Ten English Pleasure Horse *Eleuzis. Elf
sired three National Champions, as well as the incredibly beautiful *Czeremosz
(Top Ten Stallion), *Eskimos, and *Feniks (Can. Top Ten Stock Horse). *Eleuzis
sired *Hal Gazal - grandsire of National Champion Eternity, and, while
still in Poland, sired Partner - chief herd sire in Poland, Polish Res.
National Champion Stallion and sire of *Penitent, *Gokart (Swedish National
Champion Stallion, Pacifac Slope Park Champion and sire of Swedish National
Champion Stallion) and a number of other World and National Champions.
Elkins Star's paternal grandsire, Aquinor, who's lines are noted for combining
beauty and quality, sired many National Champions including *Elkin++, Elkan,
*Elkana+ and Top Ten horses including (to name just a few) Espade (Top
Ten Stallion and Top Ten Park Horse), *Grawer+ (US Top Ten Park Horse),
Excelsjor (sire of Exeter), Tryptyc and the afore mentioned Elf and *Eleuzis.
Aquinor was sired by Miecznik who was used in Poland for improvong beauty
and was also the sire of Doktryner. Aquinor's dam, Amneris, also sired
National Champion, Aramus. Elkins Star's paternal granddam, Ellenai, also
produced numerous Champions and Champion producers including *Elkin++,
Elf, Elbrus and Eleuzis. Ellenai was by Wielki Szlem, sire of *Baychantka,
Czort, Atszlemra and *El Mudir (National Champion Park Horse). Also on
his sire's side is a direct line to Witras, sire of Celebes and the legendary
*Bask and grandsire of *Aladdinn.
His dam is sired
by Beau Ibn Hanrah, many times Most Classic and a Top Ten Stallion and
Top Ten English Pleasure Horse sired by Ibn Hanrah an International Champion
who is the sire and grandsire of many National winners. His granddam, Layde
Fayre, was a beautiful mare who produced four National Champion Park Horses.
His dam's bloodlines also include two lines to *Raffles and Skowronek.
Throughout his pedigree are also many other producers of National, Regional
and Top Ten Champions, as well as several horses that were used to improve
the beauty of many Arabian horses. I could go on but I think you get the
picture!

Elkins Star has
more than proven himself in the show ring. Many of you may remember him
from the shows many years back in the Halter, Park, Driving, English and
Western Pleasure, etc. classes in which he has won numerous Regional Championships,
Top Tens, Top Fives, etc. including Top Five Buckeye, Buckeye Champion,
Top Five Region 14 (iii), many Halter Championships - Region 14, just to
name a very few. He still attends the occasional local show with beginner
and intermediate riders from our lesson program, as he did on June 19,
1999 at the First Annual All Breed Horse Show with our 15 year old intermediate
student, Jodi, together they won the Arabian English Pleasure and finished
the day only 1 point behind the Reserve High Point Arabian for the Arabian
Division. On August 17, 1997, Elkins Star
attended the Nova Scotia Arabian Horse Club's Arabian Reunion Horse Show
with two of our beginner students and first time showers, Anya (12yrs.old)
and Vanessa (10yrs.old). Anya placed in two of her three classes (she was
too nervous in her first class!) placing 6th in Open English Pleasure and
1st in Junior Exibitor English Pleasure. Vanessa placed 1st in her one
class, Novice Walk-Trot. These girls were all thrilled with the "Old
Man" as he took very good care of them and
showed them how much fun showing can be! He was also the All
Breed Horse Show's Arabian Reserve High Point winner in 2000
at the age of 24 with myself (Georgina Simard) aboard at 6 1/2 months pregnant!

Due his patience with beginners, Elkins Star is currently enjoying his life as the beginner lesson horse in our lesson program, making him the center of attention - which is just the way he likes it. We have had Elkins Star for 6 years now but we are still learning about his past (his get, showing record, etc.). If anyone has any pictures, information, articles, etc. about him, his sire or dam, or any of his get we would love to hear from you! Anything you may know or have would be a great help. Send E-mail to ed.sim. As you can see he has aged extremely well and still likes to strut his stuff - and he certainly has a lot to strut! Visitors (in person or via the internet) are always welcome to visit and we welcome any comments, info., questions, etc, that you may have - we would also greatly appreciate any old photos, show records, magazine ads or articles on Elkins Star or any of his get or relatives that you may have or find.
